My apologies for the title of this blog entry, it was just a phrase that came to me earlier tonight and I simply could not get it out of my head. So as we all like to do, I thought I’d share the misery with all those around me. You are welcome!

Junkmail is actually at the heart of our company. Not creating it, but hoping to stop a bunch of it. I have admit, it was not the reason for the company, but it is a very happy benefit of it. I pat myself on the back for this one. Actually, I should give a shout-out to one of the guys at the Arkansas “Angel” fund. Yes I struggle with the term Angel, but it is what it is… When we first pitched our idea to these guys, one of them said he would PAY to have his junkmail stopped. We really did not give the comment much thought at the time, but we kept hearing it over and over from all the “old guys”. It was another epiphany moment when we realized that we could actually stop a bunch of junkmail with our business model. After more than 20 years in the Direct Marketing industry, we know how the mail works. No company wants to send junkmail, it just happens because the only way to get the right marketing message to the right audience, with the information we have today is send it to a bunch of people knowing that a small percent (usually only 1% - 2%) would actually want to get it. I will leave you guessing a bit here so as to not give too much of the business concept away just yet, but we can really stop a LOT of junkmail. Not ALL, but our Fair Share of it. Oh, how I love the words “Fair Share”!

As I said in my last entry, we are bootstrapping this company. I am the only full-time person working on it. It’s lonely at the top (at least that is what they tell me, I can’t wait to get there!) I’m really at the bottom. Considering my partners are busy doing things that actually PAY THE BILLS, I can only grab parts of their time that is normally their “free” time. I would have been GREAT to raise a million dollars so we could hire a team and everyone be 100% dedicated to building this company, but that is simply not reality. We were extremely blessed to find an investor willing to take a chance on us. Thanks Mr. Money Guy (he is shy, so I will not reveal his name) you know who you are and you are great. I hope to return your cash MANY times over.

We have made some great progress with our business model. For awhile now, we have struggled with Fair Share part of our business model. Today, we found the right formula. Yesterday we found the right messaging, today the right Fair Share plan. I guess with progress like this, it’s all downhill from here… Oh how I wish! The work is just getting started.
